Free Comic Book Day!

So as you know, today is Free Comic Book Day. We went to the Georgetown Big Planet, our usual stop. They have all the kids’ comics neatly bagged up in one set, which makes grabbing and going very easy.

I didn’t see FCHS, which is one I had been looking forward to. I don’t know if they didn’t have it at all or were just out of it — we showed up a little late. (From all reports, this year’s Free Comic Book Day has been very busy. While Big Planet wasn’t packed, there were plenty of people going in and out.)

Overall, though, I’m happy with what I got. I greatly enjoyed Comics Festival! 2009. While I didn’t love everything there, it’s plenty of fun short stories. DC Kids Mega Sampler was a little hit or miss for me (the Batman: The Brave & The Bold story mostly being the miss). I look forward to Owly & Friends every year, but then, I have the mindset of a 4-year-old.

I’m still going through everything else (I’m actually not feeling that well. While that’s a great excuse for staying on the couch and reading comics, I’m even feeling a little too run down to have much energy to do that) but all in all, this seemed like a good year for comics.

If you get the chance for what’s left of today, get out and go get free comics. I’m enjoying the reports that I’ve read so far.
