The things that come up in my Google news feeds …04.28.08

“Comics Are For Girls Too?” from The Electric New Paper in Singapore is one of the more disjointed “girls read comics!” articles I’ve ever read. Not surprisingly, it says little that is new or interesting.

(I can’t quite figure out if The Electric New Paper is supposed to be a serious newspaper or more of a tabloid.)

Satrapi on CBS Sunday Morning04.21.08

No video link, but Marjane Satrapi discussed Persepolis with Serena Altschul on CBS Sunday Morning. It was a good little interview and it was fun to see. (My mom mentioned she wanted to see the movie and I said I kept meaning to loan her the book.)

I haven’t read any of the news from the New York Comic Con yet. I will probably do that tomorrow. The major reports from friends seems to be that it was crowded. If life doesn’t get away from everyone, I may have some better first-hand reports to share.

With any luck, I’ll make it to the MoCCA Art Festival and Big Apple Con in June.

“I never thought I’d be so excited about Batman again.”04.15.08

Yahoo! Movies has the trailer for Gotham Knight, the Japanese-animated collection. Not surprisingly, it looks awesome. (The quote, by the way, is from the boyfriend, but that’s basically how I feel). And you know, seeing as this is out July 8, I think it will make an excellent birthday present for me. (And then, a couple days later, there’s the new Hellboy movie. July is going to be fun.)

I do plan to quit dropping off the planet here. I have things to write about, but life, as usual, has been a lot of chaos.
