Abadazad on NPR

All Things Considered had an interview with J.M. DeMatteus and Mike Ploog about their comic graphic novel Abadazad. I’ve seen it mentioned here and there, mostly involved in news stories about Disney’s acquistion of CrossGen, but this piece made me want to read it.

Harlan Ellison sues Fantagraphics

Journalista link here, with a link to the entire complaint.

Is there anyone Ellison hasn’t sued?

Just last month, he was grabbing Connie Willis’ breast on stage at the Hugos (that’s my favorite link about the whole thing, including plenty of other links).

I know he was, once upon a time, a well-respected science fiction writer, and currently enjoys being a cranky old man, but his blatant antagonism and disrespect for everyone is a little tiresome.

I bet he wouldn’t have killed the Jewish girl

Joss Whedon to take over Runaways. And wow, I don’t really care. I still don’t want to read it.

I like Whedon’s work, more or less, and I liked the several issues of Astonishing X-Men I read before I got distracted and stopped following it. He’s often cruel to his female characters in a way that’s surprising since I still think he writes women well. Still, I don’t care about this comic.

(And I still really don’t care about Y: The Last Man, but that’s another issue. And yes, it’s been a long week. And yes, it’s only Tuesday.)

Lea Hernandez had a house fire

There’s all the details in her journal, starting here. I’m sure she and her family would appreciate direct donations (an easy link to do so can be found here) and even if you can’t give too much, every little bit will help. Lea’s a lovely force in the comic book industry and I hate that she and her family are facing this.
