Comic books turn to women

The Republican-American out of Waterbury, Conn., has a rather smart piece about comics that appeal to women. Is it anything I didn’t know? No, but that’s me (I also don’t know why “manga” is capitalized). It’s a good one, though, and takes a different approach that most articles of this sort.

Kids Love Comics!

I know we’ve all spent years trying to teach people that comics aren’t just for children and that’s OK. But still, I love the idea of Kids Love Comics!

The organization just seems to be getting under way, but seems very promising. Right now, the recommended list includes most of the usual suspects — although I think almost anyone would love Amelia Rules! and WJHC — but I hope it grows over time.

There’s something for everyone in comics — young, old, male, female. I think the all-ages titles tend to get overlooked and I’m glad there’s Kids Love Comics! to give those books the respect they deserve.
