Possible casting for Sin City
I don’t know how long this link will last, but Hollywood Reporter announced that Robert Rodriguez is talking to Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, Kate Bosworth and Jaime King to star in his film adaptation of Frank Miller’s comic Sin City.
I personally have no desire for there to be a Sin City movie since I feel that Miller’s art is what makes the comic and not the storylines. Still, that’s an interesting mix of actors and I think Rodriguez has the right sensibility for a Sin City move.
WJHC
PopMatters (who, admittedly, I used to write for, so I’m biased) has a wonderful review of WJHC, a comic I had the pleasure of reading the first issue of during the earlier incarnation of Comicsgirl. It is a great comic for younger readers (I’d say probably in the 7 to 12 range). It makes a great companion piece to Amelia Rules!, which has a similar look and feel (although sometimes a bit more serious subject matter).
Both are worth checking out, even if you’re out of the target audience.
Newsweek on The Escapist
Good article about Michael Chabon’s comic project The Escapist, based on the comic book in his novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.
Chabon’s always been a great champion of comics and while only one story in the book is written by him, it’s nice to see his name on a comic book, as well as mainstream press covering it.
